Breaking Barriers in Florida

New York, NY, Apr 15, 2010—In March, University of Haifa Professor Sammy Smooha was a guest speaker at a brunch for community leaders in Boca Raton. The event, hosted by University of Haifa Board of Governors member Miriam Granat, focused on the challenges of being a Palestinian Arab in a Jewish state.

Dr. Smooha, an Israel Prize winner, said his research indicated that secular education among a diverse population, like that provided at the University of Haifa, is a critical element in breaking barriers and in building positive relationships. ASUH chairman, Arthur K. Wachtel, introduced the group to the University and discussed the critical work that ASUH does to provide financial support for scholarships and scientific research.
