Leading members of the New York philanthropic community gathered at the residence of Tzili and Leon Charney on May 12, 2015 to engage in a stimulating discussion with two leading experts on Israel and the Middle East.

Admiral (Ret.) Ami Ayalon, Chair, chair of the Executive Committee of the University of Haifa and former Head of Shin Bet (Israel’s secret service) and Professor Alan Dershowitz, noted criminal defense attorney and professor at Harvard Law School, shared their observations about current affairs in Israel and participated in a lively dialogue with all guests.

The event was the latest in a series of Conversational Dinners that the American Society of the University of Haifa has been conducting around the country.  The objective of this Series is to shed light on developments in Israel and to educate friends and supporters about the crucial role that the University of Haifa is playing in northern Israel.

The University, with the most diverse student body of any Israeli university, has created an atmosphere of openness, tolerance and self-respect on its Mt. Carmel campus, and thus serves as a national model for coexistence.
