The University of Haifa’s Professor Marilyn Safir has returned to Israel after a lengthy ASUH speaking tour in the U.S. Her impact on American audiences, however, is now stronger than ever. Her travels were documented in this article, which recently appeared in the influential blog, Israel21c.
Professor Safir, currently the Director of Project Kidma, is considered the “mother” of Israel’s feminist movement and the pioneer who established Israel’s first women’s studies program. She spoke all over the U.S. and media outlets were quick to report on her latest findings. The spirit with which she presented her data was insipiring to an American audience perhaps unfamiliar with the role women play in contemporary Israeli society.
