The Nazarian family of Los Angeles attended the dedication ceremony for the newly renovated Younes and Soraya Nazarian Library, which took place during the 40th Meeting of the Board of Governors.
The Library, Israel’s largest academic library, houses more than two million books and electronic materials, available in both Hebrew and English.
The Nazarians have continually demonstrated their support for the University over the years. Dr. Nazarian had visited the University of Haifa earlier this year, prior to the library’s completion. Mrs. Nazarian also designed the Legacy sculpture located at the campus entrance.
Due to the sheer volume of content it holds, the Library, which was designed 30 years ago over an area of 11 thousand square meters, became too crowded for the enormous variety of books, manuscripts, media files, and other materials. Now there will be plenty of room for all.
The ceremony included the showing of a flash mob that was filmed a few days earlier in the main hall.
