The trip is a key component in a master’s degree program from the University of Haifa.

Graduate students at the University of Haifa’s Ruderman Program for American Jewish Studies recently returned from a trip to New York and Boston, in which they met with Jewish leaders, diplomats and scholars.

Jay Ruderman, president of the Ruderman Family Foundation, calls the student “future ambassadors of the relationship between Israel and American Jewry.”

He stated that he hopes the trip will help make them “more aware of the values of the American Jewish community and gain a renewed sense of appreciation of the deep connection between the Jewish communities in Israel and the U.S.”

In Boston, the students met with professors at Harvard and local Jewish community members. In addition to touring Ellis Island in New York, the students met with Gilad Erdan, Israeli ambassador to the United Nations at the UN.
