Chief Executive Officer

Naomi Reinharz, Esq.

CEO

Miami Beach, FL

Naomi has extensive experience as both a professional and lay leader at major global Jewish and pro-Israel organizations.

She is passionate about providing opportunities for individuals, families, and foundations to support projects and beneficiaries in Israel and throughout the global Jewish Diaspora. From 2020-2022, Naomi served as Chief Development Officer of the America-Israel Friendship League. From 2013-2019, Naomi held roles at ORT America: National Director of Next Generation, Director of Major Gifts for the Northeast, and National Director of Major Gifts. Prior to ORT America, she worked at The Jewish Agency for Israel International Development, American Jewish Committee, and Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.

An attorney, Naomi practiced corporate litigation at both Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz LLP.

Naomi holds a B.A. from Brown University; a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center; and a Certificate in Jewish Philanthropy from Yeshiva University. She serves on the Boards of World Jewish Congress Diplomatic Corps and Alums for Campus Fairness-Brown University Chapter.

Naomi loves traveling the world, reading, attending concerts and stand-up comedy shows, spending time with family and friends, and staying active through yoga, biking, beach volleyball, and dance. A native of Newton, MA, she now lives in Miami Beach, FL and is fluent in Hebrew and Spanish.

Scott Brockman

Vice President of Development

Santa Rosa, CA

Scott has been a nonprofit Jewish community leader for more than 25 years.

In executive and development positions, Scott has led and been part of organizations that have strategically reimagined themselves and grown to expand their impact. He has served as Director of Campaign Outreach and Expansion at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County and as Executive Director of the Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach in Florida. Scott served as Southern Regional Director for J Street before becoming Executive Director of the American Friends of Neve Shalom Wahat al-Salam, where he focused on shared society. Scott has also served as Executive Director of Temple Israel of Greater Miami, and just prior to joining the development team at ASUH was Executive Director of a JCC without walls in Sonoma County, California. Scott resides in the Bay Area.

Kevin Leopold

Vice President of Development

River Edge, NJ

Kevin is an innovative and entrepreneurial leader with more than 25 years of expertise in strategy development and fundraising management.

He enjoys building meaningful relationships and trust with stakeholders and matching their philanthropic goals with funding needs and priorities to maximize meaningful impacts for the organization and donors.

Kevin has extensive experience with endowment, capital, annual campaigns and building legacy giving programs. He served from 2021-2022 as Executive Director of the Jewish Home Foundation of North Jersey. From 2005-2021, Kevin was Northeast Executive Director of Americans for Ben-Gurion University. In this capacity, he led several campaigns including seed funding for unique University to University projects and international scholarship campaigns for Bedouin students and students at BGU’s Medical School for International Health.

Kevin holds an M.S.W. from Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work, where his concentration was community organization, fundraising, and administration.

Kevin and his wife Jennifer love traveling, hosting family holidays, and spending time playing sports with their three sons.

Naomi Smook

Vice President of Development

New York, NY

Naomi has been a leader in the nonprofit Jewish community for more than 20 years. As a development and fundraising executive, Naomi has successfully led teams through major gift events, fundraising campaigns, and revenue growth plans.

Naomi has served the Jewish Theological Seminary, the American Friends of The Hebrew University, and YCT Rabbinical School, leading major gifts portfolios and their respective teams. Naomi has also served as Chief Operating Officer of the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy and has led her own firm as a strategic advisor, campaign lead, and leadership coach. Naomi joined the American Society for the University of Haifa in the summer of 2022 as Vice President of Development, charged to build and lead fundraising and development strategies and teams at ASUH. Prior to serving as a fundraiser in the Jewish community, Naomi practiced law in New York City.

Keith Babich

Director of Development

Morganville, NJ

Prior to joining ASUH (American Society of the University of Haifa), Keith Babich was the Senior Development Officer at the Jewish Home Foundation in New Jersey, where he worked extensively on endowments, capital campaigns, unique events, and programs.

Keith especially focuses on building meaningful relationships with stakeholders, blending their philanthropic goals with organizational needs, thus maximizing the impact for both organization and donor.

Previous to his work at the Foundation, Keith had over 20 years of experience in the private and non-profit educational finance sector and has a long history of helping ensure students have access to educational opportunities.

Keith is excited to join ASUH and continue his career improving access to higher education for students, while also becoming more deeply involved in Israel and pro-Israel communities.

Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Keith now lives in central New Jersey with his family and enjoys traveling, hiking, and camping with his son.

Kate Shalvoy

Chief of Staff

Portland, ME

Kate is a versatile nonprofit leader with 20 years of experience driving growth and advancing strategic priorities for organizations in the U.S., India, and Israel.

She brings expertise in building collaborative teams, leading transitions, and galvanizing diverse stakeholders to work constructively toward a shared vision. Her career has centered on the nexus of higher education, intercultural exchange, and Jewish leadership. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Temple Beth El in Portland, Maine, where she created and implemented a comprehensive strategic plan, encompassing $2.5m in capital investments and a 50% growth in revenue. From 2008 – 2015, she worked for the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), focusing on faculty development, community engagement, and leading the establishment of CIEE’s first study center in Israel, based at University of Haifa.

Kate holds a BA in Psychology, and she studied Peace and Conflict Management and Hebrew language at University of Haifa’s International School. Her time in Haifa was pivotal to her development as a professional and as a human being, and she is passionate about generating awareness and support for University of Haifa’s mission and impact in Israel and around the globe.

Laura Hausman

Director of Marketing and Communications

Charlotte, NC

Innovative. Dynamic. Driven. Laura is a creative ideator who has 15 years of experience in both the agency world and nonprofit sector.

She is a forward thinker and relationship builder who is deeply fascinated by the human spirit and believes passionately in the transformative power that storytelling can have on both an individual and our society.

Before coming to ASUH (American Society of the University of Haifa), Laura worked for the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) as the Director, Creative Strategy and Operations. In this role, she served as a creative and marketing strategist for a fast-paced, internal agency, producing content for all major JFNA events and initiatives as well as campaigns for 146 local chapters in North America – collectively responsible for raising $3 billion annually. In this role, as well as in previous roles, Laura oversaw and executed the full creative process for all deliverables, ensuring a cohesive and consistent branded experience.

Additionally, Laura has worked for the Greensboro Jewish Federation, the American Hebrew Academy, CJ Affiliate, and a startup tech app.

Laura holds a BA in International Affairs and English with a focus on Creative Writing. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband, two boys and sweet dog, Yofi.

Igor Goldenberg

Director, Operations

New York, NY

Before joining ASUH, Igor Goldenberg was most recently at the Linden Trust for Conservation, serving as the Director of Finance and Administration, overseeing all finance, investments, board committees, strategic planning, and operations.

Igor has also served at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Americas Society/Council of the Americas, Bronxworks, and the Jewish Association for Servicing the Aging.

Igor has a long history of establishing new systems, policies, and processes from scratch for operations, and managing grants and gifts process requirements. Igor has managed budgets ranging from ~$7M to $100M+, and an endowment fund of ~$35M.

Igor joins ASUH to refocus his career to be more deeply involved in Israel and pro-Israel communities.

Igor oversees the ASUH Operations portfolio, including Finance and Business Administration, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance, and Technology Services.
